New Holland 370 Baler Salvage

This was my Dads New Holland 370 Baler, it was bought in the 80’s and used until the mid 90’s, but was left rotting in a field for years after we changed to round bales. About 15 years ago I decided to pull it out of the weeds to see if it could be salvaged. I greased the baler and managed to free it out enough to turn it over by hand, but it has been left sitting in the back of a shed ever since.

The chassis and tin work of the baler is in pretty bad shape, which is the main reason I’d not been in a hurry to repair it.

I have given the baler to my friend Robert who is a welder fabricator, and has taken it to his yard where he will fabricate whatever parts are needed. He has promised to take plenty of pictures which I will post later. Roberts handy work features in a lot of my on farm projects.

Robert was brave enough to attach the baler to a tractor and feed some straw through it as can be seen in the video above. Mechanically the baler is in surprisingly good shape.
