698T Engine Trouble

This old Girl has been busy on our farm for the past 20 years and got a mini overhaul in 2017.

I Fabricated some new mudgaurds and replaced the lights.

Replaced exahust manifold, gaskets and fabricated or repaired other exahust parts where needed.

Replaced the Engine wiring loom .

I also replaced the engine balancer unit and oil pump.

Recently however the engine developed an unhealthy grinding noise. Upon further investigation I discovered one of the bearings in the weights of the new balancer has collapsed and seized the unit solid. Luckily the engine was only ticking over when the balancer failed an I was able to stop it before serious damage was done.

Since the unit seized and the engine hadn’t stopped turning the drive gear for balancer shaft and oil pump broke out of the casting.
