Simple Roller Door or Gate Automation

This was one of the first Automations I implemented on the farm and it was quite a simple addition.

Here is a diagram provided in my Gliderol Motor manual. As you can see there is a single button wiring option, so a simple smart switch with inching can control the door. Alternativly you could use additional smart switches if you wanted to wire open / closed and optionally stop.

This is the Sonoff relay that I used. The motor control buttons on the Glideroll unit work by shorting the control pin to ground so the relay simply connectts the COM and NO pins to ground and the button pin there is no voltage passed between the 2 devices. This should also work for other roller doors, automatic gates or any device that allows wiring for a remote button.

This Can be integrated with Home Assistant or other IOT controller or simply using Sonoff’s Ewelink App.
